Chapter 13
"REMY! DON'T DO IT!" Rogue
yelled from across the room as she struggled even harder with her chains.
"It's de only t'ing I can
do. I ain't gonna let dat monster give our child dat pill. It's de only
way." Gambit replied as he dropped his head.
"That's quite the insight
you have there, Mr. Lebeau. I'm glad that you are no longer the selfish young
thief you were all those years ago when you worked for me. Remember that?
Helping me round up all the most violent and bloodthirsty mutants to go unleash
their wraths on those pathetic morlocks?" Sinister taunted as he got up
from his seat and started walking slowly towards Gambit.
Gambit looked up at him and
said, "Fuck you."
"Sticks and stones may
break my bones, but words can never hurt me. Actually that's not true is it,
sticks and stones can't break my bones." At the end of the comment,
Sinister let out an evil laugh, which showed he was clearly enjoying the
complete control he had over the X-Men.
He approached Gambit and with
the pill still in his hands, he said, "Open up, Mr. Lebeau. Things are
about to get very interesting."
Gambit glanced over to Jean's
direction, then turned back to face Sinister.
"Remy'll be happy
to." And with that statement, he opened his mouth and Sinister placed the
pill on his tongue.

~ Right after Gambit had looked at Jean ~
"Scott." Jean
whispered into her husband's right ear.
"Jean?" Scott
replied.
"Scott, when I say 'now',
you turn your head ninety degrees to your left and open your eyes. You
understand me?" Jean said, as she clearly knew what Gambit had planned. One
doesn't need telepathy when it was blatantly obvious what Gambit was about to
do.
"Jean, I can't. I'll hurt
you. You're still in front of me." Scott answered back as he was unwilling
to hurt the woman he loves.
"Scott, trust me on this. I
won't be in front of you when I say, 'now". Just do as I say, okay? Trust
me on this one." Jean replied.
"Always have, always
will." He simply answered.

~ Back to when Gambit had taken the pill ~
"Come on, Lebeau, you
should have swallowed the pill by now. It takes no longer than a second." Sinister
said as he was starting to get impatient with the waiting to see if his
experiment had worked.
Gambit with the corner of his
lips curling up, he looked at Sinister straight in the eyes, red meeting red.
Suddenly with the quickest
movement, Gambit snapped his towards Jean's direction and shot the pill out of
his mouth.
The pill was glowing red and
had obviously been charged. It hit the top of Jean's chains, which also acted
as her neutralizer. Her chains broke causing her to fall and landing on her
feet with which she screamed, "NOW!"
Scott turned his head ninety
degrees to his left and opened his eyes. A huge optic beam shot out and hit
Sinister straight in the chest causing him to fly back fifty
feet.
Gambit charged the ropes that
tied his arms together and felt the release. At the same time, Jean with her
powers back and used her telepathy to lift ShadowCat out of her cell. ShadowCat
ran and grabbed Iceman and Wolverine who was the closest to her, and phased
them out of their chains. Iceman immediately shot ice beams at Sinister, while
Wolverine ran over to Rogue and sliced her chains off with his unbreakable
adamantium claws.
Sinister got up quickly and
floated above them all.
"YOU FOOLS! DID YOU THINK
THIS WOULD REALLY WORK? YOU ARE DEALING WITH MR. SINISTER HERE! I AM
INVINCIBLE! OPEN THE GATES!" He screamed as suddenly gates on all sides of
the room opened and revealed over fifty genetically engineered mutants, all
with different powers, all ready to fight.
"Son of a bitch." Iceman
stated offhandedly.
"Just fight, ice
cube!" Wolverine shouted as he attacked two of the engineered mutants
coming at him.
By this time, Kurt and Psylocke
were both free from their chains/neutralizer with the help of ShadowCat and all
the X-Men except Gambit, Rogue, and Scott, were fighting the engineered
mutants.
Jean had managed to use her
telekinesis to retrieve Scott's visor next to Sinister's seat and placed it
back onto Scott's eyes.
Rogue flew to Jeremy as fast as
she can, but as soon as she got to the side of the crib, Sinister had used his
telekinesis to lift Jeremy out of the crib and into his arms.
"YOU LET MAH BABY
GO!" Rogue screamed as she practically charged at Sinister in the air.
"I don't think so,
Rogue." With that statement, Sinister flicked his hand around and aimed it
at her. Rogue all of a sudden grabbed her head and screamed out in pain. "STOP
IT! STOP IT!" She cried as she began to lose control of her mind. Finally
she fell to the ground and hit it hard.
"ROGUE!" Gambit cried
and ran as fast as he could to his love. He cradled her in his arms as she
remained unconscious. "Scott, do it!"
"It'll be my
pleasure." Scott replied. First he aimed straight up above him, turned his
visor to the highest level and shot. His blast created a gigantic hole and he
shot another blast straight through the opening, signaling to Storm and the
Professor to fly the
blackbird over.
Then, he aimed at Sinister who
still had Jeremy in his arms.
"Don't do it, Mr. Summers.
You do not want to lose Jeremy here, like you did Nathan Christopher, do
you?" Sinister warned him as he floated higher.
Suddenly, Sinister was hit in
the back with three kinetically charged cards. He was flung forward with the
hit, and lost his grip on Jeremy. Jeremy at this point began crying as he flew
across the room. Jean used her telekinesis to gently lower him back into her
arms.
Scott shot his optic beam
directly at Sinister's front body, while Gambit kept up his attack from behind.
The Blackbird appeared and was
hovering above the opening with its doors lowered. Storm immediately
manipulated the air to float Rogue's unconscious and worn body up into the
blackbird. Jean used her telekinesis and raised her and Jeremy into the plane.
By the time all the X-Men
except Gambit and Cyclops, were loaded into the plane, it was obvious that
Cyclops and Gambit can no longer hold up their attack. With every hit they made
on Sinister, he seemed to recover twice as fast. Kurt grabbed a hold of Scott
and teleported him into the plane, leaving Gambit and Sinister to continue
their dual.
"LEBEAU! YOU'RE NOT GOING
TO WIN!" Sinister bellowed, as he seemed to deflect the cards aimed at
him.
"DON'T BE SO GOD DAMN
SURE!" Gambit yelled back as he increased his attack.
"WELL YOUR FRIENDS WILL
NOT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU!" Sinister cried as he suddenly started throwing
the large pieces of boulders created from the Cyclops' blast to make the
opening, at the Blackbird.
Rather than risk having the
plane hit, Professor flew the Blackbird out of harm's way, leaving Gambit to
face Sinister all by himself.
"I DON'T NEED THEIR
HELP!" Remy cried as he kept up his attack by basically charging anything
he can get his hands on.
"You are a fool, Lebeau. I
always knew you were. Not only did you ruin your son's chance at perhaps
becoming the most powerful mutant ever, you ruined your own chance as well. You
are a fool, and you deserve to die!" Sinister exclaimed as he floated
himself out of the cave and used his power to make the walls of the underground
headquarter cave in.

On the Blackbird, Rogue had
finally regained consciousness.
"JEREMY!" She yelled
as she shot up straight looking for her little boy.
Hearing the sound of her
mother's voice, Jeremy immediately stopped crying and yelled,
"MOMMA!"
Jean quickly placed the little
boy in Rogue's arms, as Rogue held him tight while uncontrollable tears of
relief and joy were streaming down her face.
After a few minutes, Rogue
realized that Remy was missing. She turned to Jean and asked, "Where's
Remy?"
Jean's face fell and as soon as
Rogue saw her expression she knew it couldn't be good.
"Jean, where is
he?!?!?" Rogue asked as she started to panic.
"I'm sorry, Rogue, but
he's gone." Jean replied quietly as she lowered her head to avoid Rogue's
eyes.
"What do you mean he's
gone?!?! He can't be! What happened? JEAN TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED!" Rogue
demanded as she gripped her son tighter for fear she might lose him again too.
"We couldn't get back to
Gambit in time. Then, the next thing we knew was that Sinister had managed to
make the whole headquarter cave in, with Remy still in there." Jean
explained as she still did not make eye contact with Rogue.
"He must still be there,
we have to go back for him. We just have to!" Rogue exclaimed, not willing
to just leave him again.
"Rogue, there's no way he
could have survived. I'm sorry." Jean replied solemnly.
"Ah don't care what ya
say! Ah know he's still there. He needs meh. Fine, if y'all don't wanna go back
t'find him, then ah'll go by myself. Ah ain't leaving him again. Never
again!" Rogue stated firmly as she got up. She placed Jeremy back into
Jean's arms and said, "Jeremy, momma will be back in a little bit, okay? Ya
be a good boy for your auntie Jeanie, okay?"
"Okay, momma. Find Remy
Lebeau, he's nice t'Jeremy." He replied and gave his mother a warm smile.
Suddenly, Rogue felt a hand on
her shoulder. She turned around and looked straight into the eyes of Wolverine.
"Darlin' you ain't going
alone. We're all coming with you. We'll find the Cajun." He stated. Rogue
gave him a hug, and she could hear Professor Xavier's voice.
"Storm, turn around. We're
not leaving a X-Man behind."
